This gave me a bunch of heavy oil as a by product. My initial setup was 2 refineries, one making rubber the other making plastic. In my initial foray into oil, I didn't have much of an issue, outside of the learning curve of dealing with the by products.

Plus then you can re-purpose your coal to expand your steel production. All of this takes a ton of space and planning though, it's not going to be easy to setup like Coal power is, but you get so much more out of it compared to using Coal. Turbo Fuel is consumed at ~4.5/min while normal Fuel is consumed at 15/min so you get a ton of power potential with the Turbofuel recipe.Īlso, if you have the Recycled Plastic and Rubber recipes you can use another Oil node with the same alternate recipes to turn your massive fuel amounts into tons of plastic and rubber. You also get a small amount of polymer resin to either sink or turn into plastic or rubber.

This will power over 100 Fuel Generators full time giving you several Giga-Watts of power. The basics are, you turn oil into Heavy Oil Residue 40/min, spend 30/min to make 60 fuel/min, then mix the fuel with compacted coal to make Turbofuel in an odd ratio (22.5 Fuel to 18.75 Turbofuel per min). To really make Fuel Power worth it, you need the following: It backs up regularly due to the way power consumes resources if all you use is the standard recipes. You are 100% correct in that fuel is cumbersome and difficult to set up as a power source. It has some good information in it maybe it can assist you on your path.ģ00 oil/min can turn in to a metric butt-load of fuel and then into turbo fuel. I found this video yesterday and sent it to my friends.

Maybe with coming updates that will improve but I disassembled mine after about 2 hours because of the waste and the uranium. Nuclear works but the dealing with the waste is a hassle. I really like the Geo Thermo plants because they are free power, just tap them and run the wire. And with everything online I have about 73,000 on tap and have hit a maximum of 22,000 so far. Personally I am not out to build a megafactory but I do have 2 average size bases. Turbo fuel is a lot of up front work but once its running you don't have to mess with it. Compacted coal is not worth it, regular Fuel is alright. My opinion is regular coal is cheap and easy to build and maintain. It turned out to be a lot of work but it should provide me with all I need for a long time and there is no by-product since everything gets recycled. That took several lunch breaks of planning for locations and logistics.

Then recently I decided to torture myself and built a 296 generator Turbo fuel plant. The only thing I have to get rid of is plastic and I just send it to a Awesome sink. Then I built a 30 plant compacted coal station to finish out Tier 7.Īfter that I stepped up to a 132 generator fuel plant which turned into a pretty big project but it was fun to build. My first power station was a 26 coal plant, it pretty much carried me thru to Tier 6. Fuel does provide more power but it can be a annoying with the by-products to deal with.
